Wyboston Lakes Resort and its Managing Director Steve Jones have been shortlisted for two major prizes at the Meetings & Incentive Travel (M&IT) Awards, said by many to be ‘the Oscars of the meetings industry.’
Steve Jones has been voted to be one of four finalists for the M&IT Personality of the Year Award 2022 while Wyboston Lakes Resort is shortlisted for the Best Sustainable Initiative.
The finalists are chosen based on the nominations of readers of leading industry magazine M&IT and verified by a consultative committee. The highly coveted titles are the oldest established awards in the meetings industry.
Steve Jones is well-known in the hospitality and meetings industries, where he has worked for more than 25 years. He has been Managing Director of Wyboston Lakes Resort for nearly 4 years after 3 years as Operations Director of the Resort. He has also been Chair of the Meetings Industry Association for more than 3 years.
Steve Jones said “For me, this is a tremendous surprise and a great honour to be recognised as a finalist in his personal category.
“For the resort to be shortlisted for Best Sustainable Initiative is wonderful testimony to continuing commitment of our team to driving innovations and implementing our policy of ‘More Sustainable, No Apology’ wholeheartedly.”
The resort’s commitment to sustainability has been independently accredited by earning gold awards from the Green Tourism Awards and the IACC, and EcoSmart Platinum Venue Award from Greengage Solutions. All electric energy on-site now comes from renewable resources, reducing the resort’s carbon footprint by 65 percent. Zero-to-landfill was achieved for the sixth consecutive year. It is currently eradicating fossil fuels from the site and ensuring that zero food waste goes off-site.
The results of the M&IT Awards 2022 will be announced at a gala evening in aid of the Meeting Needs charity on 9 September 2022 at Evolution in London.
