Wyboston Lakes Resort is a finalist for the Sustainability Award in the highly prestigious Meetings Industry Association’s miaList 2022.
Steve Jones, Managing Director of Wyboston Lakes Resort commented: “Sustainability is a priority consideration for everyone here. We have implemented so many valuable initiatives across the site and continue to look for new opportunities to be more sustainable. While this is deserved recognition for the whole company, in particular our Green Team have been the driving force behind new ideas and putting them into action.”
The commitment of Wyboston Lakes Resort to sustainability has been widely recognised with Platinum accreditation from Greengage Eco-Smart, a Gold Award from Green Tourism and the IACC Gold Star.
These have been earned through a wide range of energy and waste reduction initiatives. Last year for the seventh consecutive year, zero waste was sent to landfill and currently the aim is to ensure that no food waste goes off-site. All electricity used on the site is generated from renewable energy sources, saving more than 1,300 tonnes of Co2 emissions and the resort is working towards a 2040 Net Zero Carbon Emission Goal.
The miaList, now in its eleventh year, recognises inspiring and exceptional individuals and performance in the business meetings and events industry.
As part of the rigorous judging process, the team must now make and submit a video about their achievements to be reviewed by the judges. All teams will then go to a public vote. The decision as to who will win the 2022 miaList for Sustainability Award category will be decided on a combination of the judges’ scores and the public vote – the weighting being in favour of the judges 75/25.
The Wyboston Lakes Resort will finally learn if they have won the Sustainability Award at a celebratory event on Thursday 17 November at Hilton Birmingham Metropole.
