Louisa Watson, Director of Marketing at Wyboston Lakes Resort and ESG Director of beam has been recognised as a Power 50 Green Champion by micebook, the digital hub for the events industry worldwide.
micebook together with sustainability body isla created this initiative to shine the spotlight on individuals within the UK events industry who are devoting their time, passion and energy to making a positive impact on the planet.
Louisa Watson commented “This is a wonderful honour for me and for Wyboston Lakes Resort. I’d like to thank all my colleagues and the beam action group who have supported me in my work.”
Steve Jones, Managing Director of Wyboston Lakes Resort commented; “Louisa thoroughly deserves this important award for her hard work and commitment to pioneering initiatives and continually driving progress both here and throughout the industry; more so though, as this is an area that she isn’t just passionate about but believes in right through to her core.”
Among these initiatives, through the Resort’s energy saving Room2Grow scheme, so far 26,500 trees will be planted on the site as a result of eco-conscious guests who stay more than one night choosing to have a tree planted instead of having their room cleaned.
A year ago, Wyboston Lakes Resort announced a 4-year Green Energy Roadmap as the foundation for its plan to become self-sufficient by producing its own green energy using the natural resources available at the resort, which will help to achieve its Net Zero Carbon Emissions target. The site has been zero-to-landfill since 2015.
The resort’s commitment to sustainability has been independently accredited by earning gold awards from the Green Tourism Awards and the IACC, and the EcoSmart Platinum Venue Award from Greengage Solutions.
