Since we opened our doors in 1983, the resort has adapted and evolved as needed to ensure our clients are happy. As we take a look at a timeline of events, there are some exciting opportunities ahead.

Nature At Wyboston Lakes (3)

1983

The 350 acre Wyboston Lakes site with a golf course was purchased by Potton Developments Ltd.

1985

The golf course was enhanced by the construction of a new club house and shop - a leading 'pay and play' golf course.

1986

Construction of 'The Birches' - a 38 bedroom hotel, using the volumetric construction method.

1990

The birth of the Wyboston Lakes Knowledge and Leisure Village with the completion of the construction of The Willows.

1995

Waterfront Centre, a 103 bedroom residential conference and training centre, was built as an open market centre.

1997

Health and Leisure Club completed and open for Wyboston Lakes delegates and public membership.

1998

The Birches Hotel redeveloped and incorporated into a 120 bedroom residential conference and training centre [Robinson Executive Centre]

2000

Potton House, the first serviced offices completed and used by the family business as the head office.

2003

Potton Developments Ltd name changed to Wyboston Lakes Ltd.

2004

Additional serviced offices completed using their own innovative Pavilion construction system. Waterfront Restaurant/Bar opened.

2005

The 'Knowledge Centre' completed - a totally new concept in serviced offices.

2007

Investment of more than £30 million in Wyboston Lakes - the largest, single site, privately owned conference centre in northern Europe.

2010

Re-modelled the Waterfront Conference and Training Centre to reflect the change to a hotel.

2012

The renovation of both the Executive Centre and Training Centre. Re-brand of Wyboston Lakes propositions. Built a luxury spa.

2013

Launch the Wyboston Lakes Academy. Launched a new website and new branding and won Gold at MIMA in Best Integrated Marketing Category.

2014

The first year of entering The Sunday Times 100 Best Companies to work for and achieved Golf in Aim Assurance.

2016

Refurbishment work began on 103 Hotel bedrooms. Winner in all 3 categories at the Venues of Excellence Chefs Challenge.

2017

Achieved Gold Award with Aim for 3 years. The hotel was re-branded The Waterfront Hotel Spa & Golf.

2018

5th Consecutive year of reaching The Sunday Times top companies to work for and winner of Best UK Management Training Centre at the M&IT Awards. Winner of the Global Chef Challenge at IACC. Refurbishment on the Executive Centre Commenced.

2019

£3m investment on the new Woodlands Event Centre Completed. Finalist in The Conference Awards and CHS awards

2020

The Willows Training Centre was transformed, with work commencing during the pandemic.

WAITING AREA DESIGN

2021

In November of 2021 we commenced work on the public areas of The Waterfront Hotel, including reception areas, Spa Bistro, Restaurant and Bar.

2022

The Waterfront Hotel, Spa and Golf refurbishment was completed in early 2022. This meant the public areas, brasserie, spa Bistro were transformed and a brand new CoWorking space was created.
