As with many events, our client had a number of requirements that needed to be catered for to ensure the event was successful.
Space for 120 sales and function managers
On-site hotel facilities
Good travel links near an airport, motorway and train station
On top of the above, there we're a variety of ideas and plans that Johnson Controls had for their event. Adequate space for entertainment, a variety of catering options, and a venue that had connections to work with external parties.
The Event
Following a one-day set-up, Wyboston Lakes Resort welcomed 120 sales and functions managers from Johnson Controls for a conference and dinner.
The purpose of the event was for delegates to collaborate and develop an enterprise mindset, focusing on the theme: ‘Create More, Learn More, Win More to Achieve One Vision’. The event’s key message was:
“Growth is a team sport.”
The conference and breakout sessions took place in the Willows Suite in the Willows Training Centre with a private dinner and party in the Rosewood Suite in The Woodlands Event Centre.
The dinner was an informal Winter Warmers Street Food style dinner.
Shinners said: “The food was good – we are always keen to showcase engaging dining options. During the conference, the restaurant
food and service were very good, too. We hadn’t appreciated that lunch on day one would be packaged sandwiches, but the quality was good, and the on-hand team dealt with us professionally and quickly.”
She added: “Coffee distribution with short breaks was challenging with few coffee machines, but weappreciated the on-hand team’s response of
bringing in a mobile coee unit.”
KDM Events supplied evening entertainment for delegates, such as racing simulators, classic arcade games, football tables, giant Scalextric, and a photobooth.
“Very well in most categories. We would return. This is a nice resort with good travel links and contacts in various sectors. What really appealed was the resort’s overall appearance, and the fact that conference events is its key business versus a hotel that offers conferencing capability.” Suzi Shinners
