Wyboston Lakes Helps Local Schools
Six Bedford Borough schools have enhanced their technological teaching resources as a result of equipment donations by Wyboston Lakes conference and training centre. The centre has presented 'smart boards' to each of five schools, while a sixth school has received five 'printable white boards'.
Wyboston Lakes is the largest privately owned single site specialist conference and training venue in the United Kingdom. The boards that have been presented to the local schools were originally installed for a major series of training events at the venue. When the event concluded, the client organisation invited Wyboston Lakes to retain the equipment: however, it was surplus to the venue's needs.
Thee venue contacted the Bedford Borough Learning Exchange, a fully inclusive collaborative which engages with all the leading educationalists in the unitary authority. "BBLE invited submissions from local schools for a share of the equipment," explains Wyboston Lakes' National Sales Manager Ewart Munday: "We were very pleased that this process ensured that the equipment went to those with the greatest need."
With three separate centres on its 350 acre site between Cambridge and Bedford, more than 70 individual meeting rooms and more than 400 bedrooms, Wyboston Lakes has a massive spectrum of clients, ranging from FTSE Top 100 companies and government departments to local companies. To maintain its leading position, the venue invests continuously in the very latest equipment to optimise conferences and training events.
Mr Munday presented the equipment to the head teachers of the selected schools in an event at Wyboston Lakes last week. The schools were St Lawrence Lower School, St John Rigby Catholic Lower School, Queens Park Lower School, Westfield Middle School, Mark Rutherford Upper School & Community College, and Biddenham International School & Sports College.
The donation is the latest example of Wyboston Lakes' continuing involvement with the education sector. The venue regularly hosts visits by local schools - including special needs students - to view various aspects of its activity.
